How many kinds of PVC-U Windows and Doors are there?

There are many different types of PVC-U windows and doors available today, and while they all provide the same key benefits described in the ‘Understanding PVC-U Windows and Doors’ section, they are all slightly different in what they do, and how they work.

Tilt and Turn windows (along with Top Swing windows) are the traditional windows used in Scotland, and for high rise applications throughout the United Kingdom.
These windows open into the room, offering two positions.  Firstly the tilt position which allows ventilation into the room, and can be locked securely in this position with the right handle choice, and secondly the ‘turn’ position which allows the window to open fully into the room for cleaning purposes.
These windows are capable of including multi point high security locking, locking or non locking handles, child restrictors, egress hinges, night ventilation and permanent ventilation
Tilt and Turn Windows are most commonly used in high rise applications such as tower blocks and maisonettes (other than in Scotland where they have traditionally been  used throughout all types of housing stock).
