What do we mean by hardware?

Hardware means the locks, handles, and hinges that are fitted to a window or door to provide functionality and especially security.

Hinges for windows can be fitted with restrictors for child safety, an ‘easy clean’ facility to help with the cleaning of your new windows from the inside, or with an ‘egress’ facility to act as a means of escape in the event of a fire.

Locks, or locking mechanisms provide varying degrees of security. Nowadays most locks are classed as ‘high security’ and meet the most stringent British Standards.

Handles can be either locking or non locking, and can also be fitted for the purposes of ‘egress windows’ with specially coloured buttons to make recognition easier.
