Safety and Security

technical detail of jointsPVC-U windows can offer increased safety when made to the right specification, and including Egress hinges, or designs which allow ease of escape in the event of an emergency.

They can also be fitted with child safety devices for the protection of young children.
For details of what window types are available and what each of them does, see the ‘What Type of Windows Are There?’ in the main menu.
PVC-U windows and doors are designed to be able to act as a secure defence against would-be intruders when made to the right specification.
It is important that you ask your housing body to specify BS7950 for windows, a British Standard which states how the windows need to be made, and which tests windows against intrusion. Windows made to this standard are known to be significantly more secure than windows which are not, and can give you the peace of mind and security of knowing that your home is more safe than it was before with the old windows in there.
For doors, the standard is PAS23/24 and it achieves the same as the standard for windows, making sure that the new doors are made to a high standard, using the latest multi point secure locks to prevent forced entry.
