Through years of development, PVC-U windows and doors are now recognised as helping to contribute significantly to safety and security in your home.

The Building regulations in the United Kingdom (see library on this site) determine what guidelines manufacturers and suppliers of windows and doors have to follow.  Through following these guidelines the window supplier can ensure:

that you have sufficient means of escape in the case of a fire

appropriate ventilation in rooms which feature gas appliances

and special ‘safety’ glass in applications where there is a risk of harm to the resident.

PVC-U windows can offer increased safety when made to the right specification, and including Egress hinges, or designs which allow ease of escape in the event of an emergency.

They can also be fitted with child safety devices for the protection of young children.
