New Windows For You

The government has set a target to ensure that new casement windowsall social housing in England meets standards of decency by 2010/11*. This means it must be wind and weather tight, warm and with modern facilities. This target is called ‘The Decent Homes Standard’.

Replacement of old and worn out windows and doors is a critical part of bringing dwellings up to the Decent Homes Standard, both from the point of view of ensuring they are warm and well insulated, and ensuring adequate insulation against external noise.
It is most likely that the windows in your home, if they are to be replaced, do not currently fulfill the requirements of the Decent Homes Standard.  Their replacement will help to bring your home up to this standard, and will bring immediate benefits for you.
*Similar schemes for Wales and for Scotland are due to be confirmed soon.
