Building Schools for the Future Programme

image of school curtain wallingSince the Labour Government came to power in 1997, education has continually been identified as key to the prosperity of the United Kingdom. In February 2003 David Miliband MP, School Standards Minister, announced plans to provide 21st Century school facilities for every secondary pupil in the next 10 to 15 years from 2005.

Building Schools for the Future is a new approach to capital investment in school buildings and technology infrastructure. Every secondary school will have either new or upgraded facilities that provide buildings fit for the 21st century.
Capital Investment in schools is vital if we are to deliver a world-class standard of education for all. We need to create environments that inspire and support both teachers and pupils, that drive innovation, and that deliver personalised learning.
