New Installation Standard

windows being fittedWith the volume and scale of social housing projects growing all the time as the requirement to achieve the Decent Homes Standard gathers pace, many clients are finding that the quality of workmanship on their sites is not as high as it should be.

The BPF has therefore re-issued its Code of Practice for the Survey and Installation of Windows and Door sets, and has developed a standard W362/1 around it against which installation companies can be formally audited and accredited.
It is intended that ultimately this standard will become a BSI accreditation.
It is not the policy of the BPF to make the actual ‘Code of Practice’ available via the internet, however it is available for £20 from www.bpf.co.uk or via 0207 457 5000.
The installation standard against which companies are audited and accredited is far reaching and is designed to address every aspect of the installation process, and puts particular emphasis on training of surveyors and installers.
